Waterproof flooring = peace of mind

Waterproof flooring isn't just for the kitchen, bath, or other prominent wet rooms. We all drop, spill, eat and drink in the dining, family, or living room, as well as, sometimes, in the bedroom. These things can damage floors, but with waterproof vinyl flooring, you can go away for weeks (or months), come home to a flood, and there will be no damage to your floors.

Waterproof vs. water-resistant flooring

We want you to know what you're getting, so let's clarify the difference. Waterproof means impenetrable to liquid. The product is constructed of waterproof materials, so the capability is inherent, and it can usually be submerged or spilled on. When something is resistant to water, it needs to be wiped before breaking through the barrier, soaks, and stains. So, waterproof gives you much better protection than water-resistant flooring.

What is waterproof flooring?

Waterproof flooring is an engineered version of luxury vinyl with extra thickness and durability. This floor is also constructed with a technologically advanced core, either the SPC (stone plastic composite) or WPC (wood plastic composite). These two cores won’t peel or ripple no matter how much water there is or for how long, offering the highest level of moisture protection.

The only difference between SPC and WPC is the feeling underfoot. SPC is more firm and rigid with the feeling of a hard surface, like wood or stone. Because of that solidity, it's more durable and was, in fact, once used primarily in commercial applications, which changed as the design options expanded. On the other hand, WPC is warmer, semi-rigid, and more flexible than resilient vinyl.

Because it's a version of luxury vinyl (LVF), the style is the same. Images of wood, stone, and tile are authentic and created with high-definition photography. Micro beveling and embossing create slightly angled corners with an almost three-dimensional appearance. Textures trending hot this year are available in wire-brushed, hand scraped, weathered and distressed looks.

Like LVF, it's low maintenance, only requiring regular sweeping and periodic mopping. Installation can also be easy, especially if there is a clicking mechanism where the pieces mat, then hover over the subfloor without nails or glue. Subfloors need mainly to be clean, dry, and level.
